I decided that I was going to take another “run” at exercising regularly this year.
It’s hard to do. . . for me. I have an irregular schedule, so attending a regular class is tough.
I thought I’d try something new – drop in classes at my local rec center. Different classes at different times, on different days. There is lots of variety, which I like, but I didn’t know if the odd schedule was going to work for me.
So this is what I have been doing. I pull out the class schedule for the month each week, while I am sitting at my computer and looking at my work schedule. I then book myself for the classes that I want to attend. My thought process goes like this, “I’m busy on Wednesday night, so I can’t take that class, but I am free on Thursday morning before my client appointments. I’ll get my office work done early, so I can go.” Then I put it on my calendar.
So far I have had lots of fun trying out different classes and different teachers. It important when adding a new activity to your life that you schedule it. Otherwise, life will move on as usual and you’ll soon forget about your new activity.
