Packing for a Beach Vacation

Packing for a Beach Vacation

It’s time for your much-needed vacation. Ready to go? What are you packing?

Packing can certainly get overwhelming when there is so much to do to prepare to leave town. I saw a great tip from Sabrina’s Organizing. She suggests that you create signs, one for each day that describes each day’s planned activities. Then share with your family members. It will help them plan what they will need to pack for each day of the vacation. What a way to delegate! Sabrina has other great tips and product suggestions in this post.

To help you get started, here’s a little advice on what to take for a one-week beach vacation.

  • 3 tank tops or t-shirts
  • a light jacket or sweater
  • jeans
  • 3 pairs of shorts
  • a dress
  • undergarments
  • 2 swimsuits
  • a beach cover-up
  • a beach bag
  • beach towel
  • sleepwear
  • sunglasses
  • sunscreen
  • a hat
  • flip-flops, sandals, and walking shoes
  • toiletries
  • a good book
  • a camera or smartphone to take pictures

If you’re thinking, “I wish it was this simple?”. It is, or it can be. You’re going to the beach. Don’t make it too complicated. We’ve all overpacked a time or two. Arriving home after a vacation with half a suitcase of clean clothes.

Usually, a beach vacation is casual and laid back. If yours is, take advantage and make your packing simple. What else are you packing for a beach vacation?

Having just come back from a beach vacation, I’d recommend a Kindle over the book. As long as you’re careful, the Kindle survives the beach quite well, and it’s lighter to carry plenty of good beach reads. We never needed the light jacket or sweater. Even in the evenings, it was plenty warm.

A Kindle is a great idea – much lighter. You must have been vacationing on the east coast, where the temps were 100 degrees, were a jacket would have been a little crazy. I still think it’s a good idea in case you visit a chilly restaurant.

We were in Florida, and you’re right about chilly restaurants. Didn’t think about that. The only one we went to was open air. And actually, the temps were only in the 80s. It was about 10 degrees cooler than VA. Excellent time to travel. 🙂

Lucky you. Yes, a beach vacation in the Mid-Atlantic was not so refreshing last week. I would have stayed inside and read books.
