Wrap Up the Gift Wrap

Wrap Up the Gift Wrap

There are always creative ways to organize and store your items. Coming up with something a little different can make all your work a showpiece. Today we will focus on gift-wrapping supplies. Where do you store your stash? Do you have everything you need in one spot?

Let's wrap up that gift wrap and organize your wrapping supplies once and for all. Share on X

An old dresser works well to store supplies. Just think of what could fit in a drawer. You could use one drawer for cards, tape, and scissors, one drawer for bows and ribbon, one drawer for folded paper, one for rolls of paper, and one drawer for gift boxes. How about small gifts, or mailing supplies like packing tape, bubble wrap, and mailing envelopes? Your “gift dresser” can live in a guest room and no one will ever know its wrapping designation. You can even use the guest bed to do your wrapping.

Maybe there’s space under that bed. This is a great idea as well. Purchase an under-the-bed box that is long enough for paper rolls and limit yourself to the number that fits in the box. You can have a second box for bows and other supplies. So easy to use and they take up so little space.

If you don’t have an extra dresser or under-the-bed space, how about a bucket? Sometimes I suggest a kitchen-size trash can as well. They hold rolls of paper perfectly and you can use a Bucket Boss or similar item (or make your own) for other supplies on the side of your bucket or can. This storage method will allow you to move your wrapping projects to any room you wish.

Let’s wrap up that gift wrap and organize your wrapping supplies once and for all.

I have a flat style plastic tote which holds gift bags, tissue, sheets of wrapping paper, small boxes, etc. but it’s not long enough for rolls of wrapping paper. I put those in a old Rubbermaid hamper, but it takes up far more room that is warranted. Maybe I need to stop buying rolls!

If it is more room than you want to devote to it, it could be a good time to switch it up and move away from the rolls!

What excellent suggestions for creating a gift-wrapping station! I especially love the idea of repurposing a dresser. I use a tall plastic container for wrapping paper rolls. The rest of my supplies (ribbons, gift bags, etc.) are incorporated into an Elfa system in my laundry room. I love it! The extra gifts are stored in a closed zipper bin in a closet. We’re in the process of redoing our laundry room. When that happens, I’d love to move the gifts into the same area to keep like with like. Currently, there isn’t space for the gifts, but I will have more room for storage with the additional cabinets we will be installing.

Elfa systems work great. Sounds like you’ve got your station in great working order!

I love the idea of an old dresser. I even saw one that had “arms” for a mirror above that was reworked for the arms to hold rolls of paper. So clever! I think just acknowledging that there are a couple of different tools and supplies we need for wrapping is a first step.

I keep mine in my laundry room. I have a rolling cart with drawers for the smaller items, and a large kitchen trash can holds my paper rolls vertically. I love storing these items there because there is a nice big surface on which to wrap.

Using the mirror arms for rolls is paper is a great idea. Your rolling cart sounds like the perfect solution to have supplies and a work station.

So many great ideas. I tend to be bad at wrapping anything that isn’t perfectly rectangular; an epic fail at wrapping a stuffed lion for my BFF’s 2yo still haunts me three decades later! So now, almost all gifts I send are Amazon-mediated or experiential, but so many of my clients are suffering from the wrapping supply clutter your post addresses. I love the dresser idea (as there’s probably enough space in one to put all those “to give to someone random when I haven’t considered getting them a gift” kinds of things, like mugs and candles.

Yes, being able to send things wrapped is such a great option for many of us. Experiential is also a great option not only to decrease wrapping clutter on your end but also for the recipient as well.

Love an under-the-bed box for just this sort of thing! Thanks for the helpful tips : )
