It’s Clear-Off Your Computer Day!

It’s Clear-Off Your Computer Day!

Do I hear moaning? If your computer desktop is a sea of icons and you can’t remember “where you saved that document” it’s time to get to work!

Take some time today to examine what each of those floating icons is on your desktop. Do you still need each document? If not, hit the recycling bin. If you do need it, find a home for it.

Your computer filing system should be set up similarly to your paper filing system, with documents inside sub-folders and those folders inside main folders.

Today is also a great day to make sure your backup system is working. Or if you don’t have one, get one. Take the time to clean up your operating system. I am no expert on this, so I will refer you to experts or if you want to do it yourself, find information on the Internet like this from WikiHow.

It’s kind of ironic that “Clean-Off Your Computer Day” lands on Valentine’s Day this year. Maybe make this project a gift to yourself. Like any organizing project, the time you invest in organizing will benefit you many times over in the long run.

Do you struggle with getting and staying organized?

Are you afraid to start an organizing project just to be overwhelmed or lose motivation in the middle, to be left with even more chaos? You are not alone. That’s the fear of most people who don’t have time to allot to a big organizing project.
