Focus on a To-Do List
Focus on a To-Do List
Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling like you have a million things to do? Is that every morning?
Take time to pause. Particularly in this moment take time to write down your thoughts on a to-do list.
Firstly, you will learn that you don’t have a million things to do (maybe a thousand). Making a list is an instant visual to show you what needs to get done. Prioritize your list, and group similar tasks together, like calls to make, or errands to run. Decide whether something can be delegated to someone else or if it can be put off for a later date.
Second, it will clear your mind of all that stuff running through it so you can focus on one thing at a time. Your list will be waiting for you as you complete one task and move on to the next. So as you move throughout your day and think of new to-dos, add them to the list.
You will be able to focus on each item individually instead of trying to multi-task all day long. As you complete each task, scratch it off/check it off as a small celebration of moving forward.

I’m constantly tweaking the way I use my to-do list, but I can’t imagine life without it!
Since the start of the pandemic I’ve been tweaking my to-do list too. I can’t seem to get it right.
I love using my to-do list. Just like you said, it clears my mind so I can focus on the task at hand.
Yes Pamela, it really works!
I don’t think I could live without a list LOL. I interact with my list all day long.
Me too, I love having lists, the phone with my apps helped me a lot.
I love my ‘to-do’ list. I create one every evening for the next day. It holds a variety of tasks – everything from household chores, appointments, calls, emails, and project work goes on my list. Every time I complete a task I cross it off. It is very satisfying. Additionally, if something isn’t crossed off it is either moved to another day or eliminated if it is no longer relevant. Honestly, my list helps me sleep at might because I don’t stress or worry about forgetting the things I want to get done the next day.
That’s wonderful Diane; I love having all my lists set the day before so that I don’t have to worry about anything and be able to sleep too.
Great reminder! I love making a to-do list the night before I leave my desk for the night. It really helps me know what I need to do tomorrow, and I can start the day right away.
Yes it’s a task done a the end of the day to get you ready for the next day.
It’s wonderful to see all the list-makers and appreciators. Like many of you, I can’t imagine NOT having a list. It helps me focus and direction to know what to work on each day.
I love the “2Do” app. I refer to it throughout the day and take a more extended look in the morning. By the end of the day, the list is empty. Either things have been accomplished as planned or moved to work on another day. That way, I can sleep knowing I did my best with nothing lingering.
2Do is a great app. Thanks for sharing.
I could not survive without my “to do” list. I make one every Sunday evening for the week. I work from a word template that has items on it that need doing every week. Then either later that evening or early the next morning I put the most crucial or time important items into my weekly Google calendar. The printed list stays on my desk and I cross items off as I do them. If I have an extra minute, I may grab one of the items that is not on the calendar. If I think of something that I did not get on the list, I hand write it on the top.
There is no way I could survive without this list. I simply have too many eggs in the air.
Thanks for sharing all your tips.
