15 Minute Organizing – The Medicine Cabinet
There are so many small organizing projects that you can do quickly. To give you some ideas for quick projects, I am starting a series of posts that will get you more organized and then maintain the order.
The Medicine Cabinet
Medicine cabinets are small storage spaces in your home. So small that I think many people neglect to use them. What’s in yours? You’ll probably find some very old stuff (check expiration dates) that you don’t want anymore. Making space inside your cabinet will allow you to find space for items you use all time and clear some bathroom counter space.

A while back I wrote about re-organizing my medicine cabinet and what I did to save some time. I have a mirrored medicine cabinet, so I placed magnets on the back of the door which holds many of my “most used” items. It saves me time by not having to search for those items.
Here are some more medicine cabinet storage ideas from Pinterest.
A little creativity goes a long way in a small space. But if you are not ready to “decorate” your small space, just organize it. Decluttering this small space with make room for items you use every day and also make it easier to use on a daily basis.
Sort, Purge, Group, Contain, Maintain.

Do you struggle with getting and staying organized?
Are you afraid to start an organizing project just to be overwhelmed or lose motivation in the middle, to be left with even more chaos? You are not alone. That’s the fear of most people who don’t have time to allot to a big organizing project.

Your post is so timely. Recently, when looking for an over the counter med in my cabinet, I noticed it was expired. That got me on the ‘hunt’ for other items that were also expired. Since I don’t take medicine frequently, some products in stock rarely were used. So guess what? I took 10 or 15 minutes and did a clear out. I was surprised by how many items went.
Great job Linda. I quick project you’re more organized!
I have had the same thing happen to me. I’m rarely sick so when I am the meds are expired. I’ve learned to buy small bottles.
Thanks for the reminder to check the expiration dates on my medications! This is such a valuable post. When you need the medicine cabinet, you need it to be easy and safe to use!
You’re right Katherine.
It’s a quick project and safety is important.
I don’t have a medicine cabinet, but I think that would work so well. I’ve seen a similar idea for storing spices in the kitchen. Whenever you can hang something up in plain sight, I’m a fan!
My medication is spread across a couple of different cabinets. I think it’s probably time to go look at expiration dates – it’s been awhile!
Yes. It’s time for an update. Time flies so you may have some expired meds.
Definitely timely. I don’t have a medicine cabinet, just a giant wall mirror from the counter to the ceiling light fixture, but I do have a section of my bathroom cabinet that I use for First Aid stuff. However, I have a section of the kitchen cabinet with a divided container for meds, far from the heat and humidity of the bathroom. I have no meds that aren’t used to completion, but for OTC meds, they are front-and-center so I can check dates quickly. And I’m completely envious of your magnets.
Thanks Julie. I like things front and center too.
