10 for 10 Minimizing Challenge
10 for 10 Minimizing Challenge
Are you ready to transform your space?
Welcome to our 10 for 10 minimizing challenge.
We are going to make significant changes by removing excess possessions in our homes in the next 10 days.
Our goal is to remove 10 items from a specific space in your home each day.
Day 1 – The Living Room
Start here to remove 10 items. Maybe it’s old magazines or redundant, decorations or unused electronics. Create a space that’s both inviting and free of clutter.
Day 2 – The Kitchen
Declutter 10 items. Look for duplicate utensils, unused gadgets, old, spices, or mismatched containers. Simplify your cooking space for a more enjoyable culinary experience.
Day 3 – Your Bedroom
Remove 10 items that are cluttering this restful space like old bedding, unused decorative items or unnecessary gadgets.
Day 4 – Your Closet
Go through your wardrobe. Choose 10 items of clothing to part with. Maybe you don’t wear them or they don’t fit or don’t bring you joy. It’s about refining your wardrobe to reflect your current lifestyle.
Day 5 – The Bathroom
Declutter 10 items from this room and look for expired products, unused samples, old towels, or excess toiletries. These are common culprits of clutter in this space.
Day 6 – A Bookcase
Choose 10 books to donate, sell, or give away. Focus on those you haven’t read or are unlikely to reread. You’ll make room for new stories and a cleaner aesthetic.
Day 7 – A Linen Closet
Remove 10 items from this closet. This might include old linens, unused storage containers, or miscellaneous items which accumulate over time.
Day 8 – The Storage Area
Clear out 10 items from an area like your attic basement or garage. These are often hiding spots for things we no longer use or need.
Day 9 – Your Home Office
Declutter your office by removing 10 items. This can be outdated, electronics, old papers, or unused stationary.
Day 10 – The Coat Closet
Remove 10 items such as old coats, scarves, hats, or other outerwear that you no longer use.

I love the simplicity of this focused challenge. After ten days, 100 items will be gone. And if that feels good, you can repeat the process. Doing a small amount at a time makes editing more manageable.
Yes, I agree. By decluttering only 10 things in a day, it’s not so overwhelming.
I love this approach! I don’t think I would find 10 items to discard in every areas, but I might be surprised – and some areas, such as bookcases, will be much more than that.
I surprise myself when I start decluttering an area by finding way more than I think I will. Letting go feels good to me.
I agree with the previous commenters. I love something so simple as this. Break it down, quick and easy, and yet the potential for significant results. Now is a perfect time of year to just go through and get rid of some stuff. Free up a bit of space and feel great without too much hassle. Will definitely share!
Thanks for sharing. I tried to make it fast and simple, cause I know that this time of year gets crazy sometimes.
I also agree with all the other comments. This is wonderful and simple. I hope you get many people signed on to accept the challenge. Like Janet, I don’t think I would find 10 items in all the areas but I may surprise myself. I think if you’re looking to meet a challenge a person may be more willing to stretch in order to complete it.
As I said to Janet. I surprise myself sometimes when I think I won’t find much, but then I keep going and my donate pile grows. We are starting the downsizing process, as I know you did a few years ago. It’s hard, but if I only look for 10 things, it goes fast.
I’m a big fan of challenges! I love that you gave people a goal of 10 items to get rid of. It could also be a fun game for kids to do in their rooms and shared spaces. Thanks for sharing.
Yes. This would be a good challenge for kids, not too overwhelming.
Ahhh! I love a decluttering challenge! great one! Thanks. I might do these myself!
Good for you Florena. Let me know how it goes.
