Our Favorite Kitchen Tools
We all love products and systems that keep us (and our families) organized in the kitchen. Basic Organization would like to share our team’s favorites. Maybe they can help you too!

My family got into composting a few years ago.
That’s when I purchased a compost bin. It sits out on the countertop in my kitchen. It’s pretty so I don’t mind leaving it out. Having it on the counter means I use it all the time. What was surprising to me is that the bin doesn’t smell. I empty it about every other day. When we started composting, I was surprised at how much it cut down on the amount of trash we collected. It does take a little research to learn how to compost but it’s so worth it. My garden has never looked better!

I love my glass Pyrex containers.
They keep my cut fruits and vegetables organized in the fridge. I love the different colored lids as well. They are as bright as what it contains! Seeing this pop of color when I open the fridge encourages me to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

A Salad Spinner is one of my favorite kitchen tools. I enjoy a fresh green salad and this gadget does the trick! So easy to use. I even rinse my fruit in it as well.
Denene
My favorite kitchen tool is a garbage bowl.
I got this idea years ago from Rachel Ray. Basically, when I’m preparing a meal, I keep a mixing bowl nearby on the counter for all my kitchen scraps (such as peels, seeds, produce stickers, wrappers, etc.). It saves me time because I don’t have to leave my prep area to compost, recycle, or trash items. I put everything in the bowl until the end when I can easily put everything in its place. It keeps my prep area neat and clean too.

One of my favorite kitchen tools is the chopper!
I can take fruits/vegetables and chop them into pieces perfectly and quickly. It’s obviously a real time- saver!
The ease of preparing food in the kitchen is a must. Are you using any of our favorite kitchen tools? Share on X

My favorite little tool is great for taking stems/greens off strawberries!
It cuts close and minimizes berry loss. Have you used a strawberry huller before?

I am a fan of the BlendJet 2!
It’s a portable single-serve smoothie and shakes blender that you can charge and take on the go! Making healthy and delicious smoothies couldn’t be easier! Surely you have shakes and smoothies too!
Candy
I enjoy my prep knife.
It fits my hand nicely and I use it for everything. Certainly, you have a favorite kitchen knife.
Rouba
My favorite item is the stand mixer.
I bake a lot and make dough from scratch. In truth, I don’t know what I would do without my stand mixer.
Stephanie
My Instant Pot is a huge time saver.
For someone like me who isn’t a great cook, it’s versatile, quick, and so easy to make healthy dishes. I can make a lot of 1 pot meals which cuts down on dishes. I love making fresh applesauce in it the most!

Thanks for sharing all of these neat ideas! What strikes me is that what we love depends very much on our personal pleasures. Someone who bakes is going to love her stand mixer, while someone who gardens loves her compost bin.
It is always easier to pick the right products when you start by identifying your priorities.
For me, I really love my onion goggles. They have made chopping onions so much easier!
Yes, great point – if you know your priorities, you can pick the right product!
What a great list of kitchen favorites! And Seana’s “onion goggles!” Who knew? My two favorite gadgets are my paring knife (super sharp and easy to handle) and King Cutter (a non-electric, heavy-duty, versatile chopping/slicing device.) I don’t use King Cutter frequently, but when I do, I marvel at how well it works and cleans up.
I’m unsure if these count, but I also love our electric tea kettle (which heats the water quickly) and coffee maker. I use those daily.
I am going to have to look into onion goggles, too. I definitely think an electronic tea kettle counts!
All of these together belong on young newlyweds’ registries and many are perfect for the just-out-of-college-and-starting-a-first-job types. I don’t cook much, so I don’t have many of these, but I did love my salad spinner. (It eventually broke, and now I use the interior as a pseudo-collander! The KitchenAid stand mixer is, I have always imagined, a must-have for anyone who cooks for a family and wants to accomplish a lot in a short time. And they come in such gorgeous colors. Conversely, I wouldn’t eat a strawberry if you paid me, so no huller for me! 😉
The BlendJet is so cute and cool, it makes me wish I liked smoothies. And now I’m reading the comments and I want Seana’s goggles and Linda’s electric tea kettle! What a fun post and great conversation starter.
Yes, great idea for the registries. Yes, the onion goggles seem to have stolen the show!
