5 Reasons Why People Hoard

5 Reasons Why People Hoard

Webster’s dictionary defines hoarding as the compulsion to continually accumulate a variety of items that are often considered useless or worthless by others accompanied by an inability to discard the items without great distress.

Below are the top reasons why people may hoard.  I agree with each of these reasons.

  1. Loneliness
  2. Impoverished
  3. Grief/Loss
  4. Memory issues
  5. Rescue mentality

“If possible, it is best to seek outside help to deal with these reasons behind hoarding. A counselor can help you through the grief process or help you understand your loneliness.”
